Why are Dacromet production lines placing increasing emphasis on “digital intelligence”?

2026-07-06

In recent years, through our conversations with customers, we have observed a clear shift: when companies plan Dacromet coating production lines, their focus is no longer limited to equipment configuration. Instead, they are increasingly asking about MES systems, data acquisition, AGV logistics, automated loading and unloading, equipment connectivity, and other digital-intelligence capabilities.

A few years ago, digital intelligence was still a new direction first explored by large enterprises. Today, it is becoming an important factor for more and more coating companies when building new production lines. This change is not simply because “digital intelligence" has become an industry buzzword, but because the Dacromet coating industry itself is undergoing change.

The Shift from Capacity Competition to Stability Competition

In the past, when market demand was strong, companies focused more on expanding capacity and improving delivery speed. As long as a production line could run stably, it was enough to meet market demand.

In recent years, however, the rapid growth of industries such as new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, energy storage, and rail transit has led downstream customers to place much higher demands on fastener quality. Compared with the past, when the key concern was simply whether salt spray requirements could be met, customers today are paying more attention to batch-to-batch consistency, coefficient of friction stability, full-process quality traceability, and long-term stable delivery capability. This means that competition among companies is shifting from “whether capacity is available" to “whether stable manufacturing capability is available."

It Is Becoming Increasingly Difficult to Manage Production Lines by Experience Alone

In many traditional coating workshops, the stable operation of a production line depends largely on the experience of on-site managers and operators. Decisions such as when to maintain equipment, when to adjust processes, how to arrange production pace, and how to move products through the line are often made through manual judgment. This model may work when products are simple and orders are stable, but as product varieties increase and changeovers become more frequent, experience-based management is facing growing challenges. Once personnel changes occur, or the production rhythm is disrupted, production efficiency, product consistency, and even delivery lead times may all be affected.

Therefore, for modern coating factories, what needs to be managed is not just equipment, but the entire production process.

The Dacromet industry has an even greater need for digital intelligence

Many people believe that digital intelligence simply means adding a few robots to achieve automated loading and unloading. In reality, robots are only one part of digital intelligence. True digital intelligence is more about connecting equipment, processes, logistics, quality control, and production management, so that information that once depended on manual judgment can become real-time, analyzable, and traceable data.

For example, an MES system can monitor production status in real time; AGVs can automatically handle material delivery; key equipment operating data can be collected automatically; and every stage of the production process can generate digital records.

The value of these capabilities is not only to reduce manual labor, but also to make the entire production process more transparent, more stable, and more controllable.

Compared with many general manufacturing industries, Dacromet coating features continuous production, multi-process coordination, and high requirements for equipment linkage. From pretreatment, dip-spin coating, and sintering curing to cooling, inspection, and packaging, every process can affect final product quality. If there is no unified coordination between different stages, problems such as waiting, backlog, and takt imbalance can easily occur. If production data cannot be collected in real time, it also becomes difficult to quickly identify the causes of quality abnormalities.

Therefore, for Dacromet production lines, digital intelligence is not only a tool for improving efficiency, but also an important foundation for ensuring product consistency and improving management capability.

From standalone equipment to a fully digital-intelligent production line

Today, more and more companies are rethinking how production lines should be built. Instead of simply purchasing several pieces of equipment, they are paying greater attention to how the entire production line can operate in coordination, how data can be interconnected between equipment, and how logistics, production, quality, and warehousing can be managed in a unified way. This means that what customers will need in the future is no longer a single piece of equipment, but a digital-intelligent coating system capable of long-term stable operation.

As one of the earlier companies in China to develop digital-intelligent coating equipment, Changzhou Junhe Technology Co., Ltd. has continued to promote the development of Dacromet coating equipment toward automation, intelligence, and digitalization. By integrating AGV intelligent logistics, MES production management, automated loading and unloading, online data acquisition, and other technologies into full-line design, Junhe helps customers build more efficient, stable, and traceable digital-intelligent coating factories.

For today’s Dacromet industry, process technology remains important, but what truly determines a company’s competitiveness is no longer the process itself alone. In the future, the real competition will lie in who can replicate mature processes more stably, efficiently, and intelligently across every batch of products, every production line, and every project.

Digital intelligence is an important support for achieving this goal.
